AWS Backup & Disaster Recovery Setup That's Actually Been Tested

A backup you've never restored is a guess. I set up AWS Backup or S3 replication, restore from it for real, and write down how to do it again.

Scope

What you get

Zero data loss and instant failover are possible, but they cost far more and most small teams don't need them. I'll show you the options and costs before you decide.

Process

How it works

01

Free 20-minute call

We map what data matters most and what losing it would cost you.

02

Agree RPO and RTO

I propose options with their monthly costs, and you pick the one that fits your risk and budget.

03

Build

I configure the backup plans, copies and alerts in your account under a written agreement.

04

Restore test and runbook

We restore real data from backup, time it, and I write the runbook so recovery doesn't depend on one person.

Questions

FAQ

What are RPO and RTO?

RPO is how much recent data you can afford to lose, measured in time. RTO is how long you can afford to be down while you recover. Every backup design is a trade between these and cost.

Is S3 replication the same as a backup?

No. Replication keeps a second copy and helps if a region has a problem. It is not a substitute for point-in-time backups, which let you go back to an earlier state after a mistake or corruption.

Can you guarantee no data loss?

No. Truly zero data loss needs synchronous designs that cost much more and aren't right for most small teams. I'll explain the realistic options and what each protects against.
